Bananas not only taste good, they are good for you. Dr.
Earl Mindell in his book “Food As Medicine”,
calls the banana the world’s most perfect food.
The banana is packed with potassium,
folate,
vitamin A, vitamin
C, vitamin B6,
fiber, and melatonin. One banana has only about 100 calories,
which makes it an excellent food for dieters.
Banana benefits
- Helps reduce high blood pressure - Potassium
in bananas can help to reduce/prevent high blood pressure.
- Helps build stronger bones – Again potassium is
able to help out. Our bodies need potassium
to properly assimilate calcium.
Calcium is needed to build strong bones. Researchers have
found that the elderly, who has a high potassium intake
(averaging 3,000 mg a day) have better bone mineral density.
- Helps fights diarrhea symptoms – people suffering
from diarrhea will lose important fluids and minerals,
becoming weak and dizzy. Drinking water is not enough,
as we also need to replenish the minerals lost. According
to the American College of Gastroenterology, after a diarrhea
attack, take bananas to replenish the potassium,
it helps to balance the water in our cells.
