Apples
are very healthy. They help to lower cholesterol
(especially the bad LDL type), regulates
blood sugar, provides energy, and helps
to detoxify lead. The fibre also helps prevent
constipation.
Here's an excellent meal to start off the
day. The apples
and dates add a natural sweetness to the
porridge, provides fibre and healthy vitamins
and minerals.
Ingredients
90g whole rolled porridge oats
15 g Bran
450 ml Semi-skimmed Milk
300 ml Water
2 green eating Apples, cored and chopped
2 Tbsp dark brown Muscovado
Sugar
Method
Mix the porridge oats, bran, milk, and
water together in a saucepan.
Bring to the boil, stirring occasionally,
then simmer for 6 minutes, stirring 3-4
times.
Stir in the apple and dates and simmer
for a further 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in half the sugar and spoon into 4
individual serving bowls. Sprinkle with
the remaining sugar and serve.
